Building a Multi-Tenant ISP SaaS
Challenge
Pakistani ISPs were juggling spreadsheets, WhatsApp groups, and manual PPPoE credential creation. Subscriber churn was invisible until it was too late, and billing reconciliation consumed days every month.
No off-the-shelf product supported MikroTik API integration with Urdu-language invoicing and local payment gateways.
Solution
- Designed a Laravel + Livewire multi-tenant architecture where each ISP gets isolated DB schemas and branded dashboards.
- Built a MikroTik API abstraction layer (later open-sourced as mikrotik-laravel) that provisions PPPoE users, pushes queue profiles, and syncs traffic counters in near real-time.
- Integrated local payment gateways (JazzCash, EasyPaisa) with automatic invoice generation and SMS/WhatsApp notifications.
- Added a self-service customer portal for plan upgrades, ticket creation, and bandwidth usage graphs.
